Brand New Song “Hot” – Off Double Album “El Negrito Dun Dun & Ricardo” – Is Featured On The Official FIFA 14 Soccer Game Soundtrack Alongside Nine Inch Nails, Chvrches, Marcelo D2 and Vampire Weekend!

The one thing that is important to know about the FIFA soundtrack is that it represents not just where music is at, but where music is on a global scale. Soccer/fútbol is a sport that has no boundaries.” – EA Music Group president Steven Schnur in Billboard

Their music switched among hip-hop, reggaetón and dancehall beats […] their fast rhymes proclaimed solidarity across the hemisphere.” – NY Times

September 24th, 2013: Oakland via Panama’s Los Rakas is featured in EA Sport’s “FIFA 14” which is out today in the United States and worldwide on September 27th. The song “Hot” is off of their as-yet-to-be-released forthcoming double-disc project, “El Negrito Dun Dun & Ricardo” – which will see release in 2014.

This is a huge honor and dream come true for Los Rakas.” Raka Dun says. “Being Panamanian and raised in the United States, FIFA connects us to the larger Latin American and global community. Soccer is our second love behind music.

According to Billboard, EA Music Supervisor Cybele Pettus describes the overall sound of the music featured in FIFA as “Celebratory and rhythmic. You want to get fired up like you get fired up if you’re at one of these games.”

Speaking to the sound of the song Raka Rich says, “Hot‘ is great for the FIFA 14 soundtrack because of the drums. Raka Stylo – one of our main producers – captured the intensity of the sport through the sound of the song.  I think people will really enjoy it.

Los Rakas have a deep love of soccer and their homeland of Panama.  Their friendship with FC Dallas striker and fellow Panamanian – Blas “Super Ratón” Pérez – is especially fitting today.  Pérez is featured on the cover of this year’s game after winning a fan voting competition which Los Rakas helped support through social media.

ABOUT LOS RAKAS:
Los Rakas is comprised of cousins Raka Rich & Raka Dun, pioneering Panamanians by way of the Bay Area on the frontier of a new Latin urban sound.  Known for their fresh mix of Hip-Hop, Plena, Reggae and Dancehall music with both Spanish and English lyricism, Los Rakas represent the cutting edge of Pan-American flows. Taking their name from the Panamanian word “Rakataka” – a negative slur used to describe someone from the ghetto – Los Rakas have set out to both inspire fellow “Rakas” by empowering them, and to become successful despite their circumstances, turning the current Latin hip-hop world on its head. Los Rakas make music born of migration and tradition, critique and celebration, joy and pain. They make New World music. American music. Panamanian Jamaican Californian music. Music for b-boys and rude girls, dancers and romancers, mainlanders and islanders and isthmus folk alike, which continues to bubble one “Raka” at a time. Learn more: www.losrakas.com
